‘De Omega’ is a unique wellness boat within walking distance of Amsterdam’s UNESCO-protected historic center, moored at a private marina near Central Station — a romantic getaway for two (note: it doesn’t sail, and isn’t suited to children or parties). The surrounding neighborhood is lively, with the canals, red light district, Anne Frank House, Westertoren, the Nine Streets, and countless restaurants and bars all within walking distance. Inside, a warm Finnish sauna can double as a cozy chill room with a fireplace, and the spa area has a relax bed and a striking rain shower shaped like a tree trunk. On deck, luxurious sun loungers and a hammock make the most of good weather, with a swimming deck and staircase for anyone wanting to take a dip; when it’s rainy, guests can curl up in a bathrobe on the lower deck lounge or watch ducks and swans from the king-size bed. This old fishing cutter was fully transformed in 2020 into ‘De Omega,’ with a zen interior built from natural, sustainable materials, a star-gazing skylight above the dining table, and an Austrian osmosis system that makes the boat’s own filtered water drinkable. The wood inside is recycled from old cheese-warehouse planks, and the whole boat is well insulated and centrally heated for the colder months.
